2) How do you know? What are the key conventions that allowed you to identify the text?
The most obvious convention would be the main image of Naomi Campbell in a swimsuit but also the many story lines such as '24 minutes to slim' or ' The easy way to eat less.' The masthead 'Shape' is significant as well because part of it is covered which suggests that it is an exclusive magazine because their readers are loyal and just by the other features they would be able to tell that this is the Shape magazine cover. Also, the simple bar-code and date shows us that this is a magazine for sale and that there are many different issues available.
3) In your opinion, who is the target audience for this media text?
In my opinion the target audience is females who are looking to get healthy and fit. This is aimed at women who are aged within their mid-twenties on wards who have a job but also show an interest in fitness.
4) How would this audience access the text? E.g. where/when would they consume it? Using what device?
This magazine is available online but also they have print copies available in stores or you can order them online. The can access it from anywhere their phones to laptop or in stores. They would read this in their free time or when ever they felt like they would want to become more healthy.
5) What values, ideologies and beliefs in society are reinforced or challenged in this media text?
This magazine has reinforced the stereotypical view of how women should look like, they force women to believe that having a 'slim body' or having 'abs' is the ideal body type and if you don't look like that then people wouldn't like you. Although, it inspires women to become more healthy, it does cause emotional damage to women as it makes them feel depressed that they don't look like that.
