5) 15/10/18 - i newspaper - Meghan Markle pregnant

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first baby in the spring. Kensington Palace announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be expecting their first child. The baby will be born in spring 2019 and will be the seventh in line to the throne. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the news as they began their first royal tour together. The couple have landed in Australia and will also visit New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga during their 16 day trip. I think this is an example of soft news because it is about the Royal Family and their exciting new. The whole article talks about how Kensington Palace announced the news and that it is up to the Queen if their child will receive the title of prince of princess. The audience pleasures would be diversion as some people like to read about the Royal family. I don't think this is an example of clickbait  because it is sharing some very important news to the public, however, I also don't think this is an example...

5) 15/10/18 - Mail Online - Man punched 90 year old women

Man punched 90 year old women in the face as she withdrew pension and apologises as he blames 'evil spirits' for his attack.  Troy Sergent, 36, punched an elderly women in the face as she withdrew her pension at an ATM in March. The man was arrested and then taken to hospital where he broke a nurse's nose. He pleaded guilty to the charges for both incidents in court on Monday. However, he blamed 'evil spirits' for his actions and said he was 'unwell' at the time. I think this is an example of hard news  because this talks about an incident that took place in public and that people should be informed about it so they can be aware of things that go around them. This article acts as a warning that similar incidents can occur again as it has happened before in the same area. I think the audience pleasure is surveillance because the readers are being informed and are sent the message that they should be careful especially elderly people. I think this is a...

4) 8/10/18 - Mail online - Paedophile cannibal

Image
Paedophile cannibal, 22, tells court he boiled a man's eye before eating it with 12-year-old 'girlfriend' and microwaved victim's severed head before devouring his brain Arkady Zverev, 22, admitted to murdering Alexander Popovich, 21 and admits to having sex with co-accused 12 year old he calls his girlfirend. Zverev told court he and school girl had eaten victims brains and eyes. This is an example of hard news because it is appeared as a headline on the front of mail online and also has been reported on different news channels which shows the seriousness of the story. I think the audience pleasure is surveillance, this is because people are being made aware of a disturbing incident that has happened. I think this makes readers realise that things like this do happen a lot more than it's coverage. I think this is an example of quality journalism and not clickbait because the article tells the reader exactly what the headline said but in depth.

4) 8/10/18 - i newspaper - Glastonbury festival

Image
Glastonbury festival - more tickets for those who missed out?  I think this is an example of soft news, I believe so because this article is all bout how Glastonbury festival tickets sold out within 36 minutes and how the organisers are happy that a lot of people wanted to come to the festival. I think the audience pleasure here is surveillance as it is informing people the tickets have been sold out. This article is an example of clickbait because the headline suggested that there will be more tickets going on sale however the article reveals that if there any returned tickets by April then they will be sold.

3) 2/9/18 - Mail online - Kim Kardashian West's 'jealous' daughter North having trouble accepting that she's not an only child

Image
Kim Kardashian West's daughter North has trouble accepting she isn't the only child. This is soft news as it talks about the Kardashians and Kanye West who is now known as 'Ye'. This article talks about how Kim KW's daughter believes she is the only child and hates that she has siblings. The audience pleasures are diversion and personal relationship this is because people use this as a way to escape and read some entertainment news but also people can develop a liking for celebrities. This is an example of clickbait, I believe this because the headline stated 'Jealous' which would suggests that maybe Kim KW is having some issues with parenting or that her children do not get along.

3) 2/9/18 - i newspaper - Kim K most dangerous celebrity to search for.

Image
Why Kim Kardashian is the ‘most dangerous’ celebrity to search for online This article is an example of soft news with elements of hard news due to the issues it talks about such as cyber criminals. I believe so because it is about how Kim Kardashian is such a big celebrity and influencer that criminals take advantage of when consumers search for them online. It talks about how criminals will create fake websites and links so people are fooled and click on which can give the cyber criminals access to their personal details. I think the audience pleasures is surveillance because the article is teaching them to be aware of their safety online because some people can be fooled and it will lead to their details being stolen. I think this is an example of quality journalism  because it is genuinely telling the consumers to think before they click.
