1) What do the typefaces used on the front cover suggest to an audience?

The typeface used looks as if it has been handwritten or sort of done with a paintbrush, this adds a personal touch and feeling making the readers feel more welcomed an apart of the magazine.

2) The words under the title introduce the content and topics addressed. What do these suggest about the potential audience of Oh Comely?

The readers enjoy a wide range of topics and not just one, it suggests that the reader would go through each article instead of just picking a few that intrigue them.

3) How do the cover lines use narrative to create enigma? What do the cover lines suggest about the magazine's content and audience?

The cover lines are open to interpretation, they can be seen as simplistic but convey strong messages reflecting the seriousness of certain topics discussed within the magazine. It does suggests that Oh Comely is a feminist magazine because of featuring a strong confident female on the front cover.

4) Write an analysis of the central image.

Oh Comely have used a young white female which reflects their target audience and who their readers maybe. The female is seen to be wearing minimal make up which suggests that Oh Comely promotes the idea of being 'natural' and comfortable with the way you look. The model is wearing heavy expensive looking earring which suggests that the readers are interested by expensive products and have a high disposable income to buy high end things. 

5) What representation of gender can be found on this front cover?

The model is represented as gender fluid, this is because the cover seems quite ambiguous because of the way the model is represented. This reinforces the fact the Oh Comely support gender fluidity but also gives us an insight into some of their audience. 
Feature: Speaking Out

1) What does the headline and standfirst suggest about Oh Comely's feminist perspective?

The headline and standfirst suggest take up the entire space on the front cover, this reinforces the significance of them as well as it makes it clear for the audience.

2) What do the interviewees in this feature suggest about the values and ideologies that underpin this magazine?

The interviewees are all from different countries, ehtnicities and religions which suggests that Oh Comely is all about diversity but also reinforces left wing ideologies.

3) How conventional is the page design in this feature? Why?

The page design is unconventional because the image covers most of the page but also has a white border which adds a bit of sophistication. 

4) Pick out specific aspects of this feature that subvert the stereotypical representation of women in the media. Are they different to what we may find in conventional women's lifestyle magazines such as Glamour or Cosmopolitan? Why is the absence of men a key feature of Oh Comely?

 The absence of men is a key feature because Oh Comely reinforces a feminist view, and supports the idea of empowering women. Also, Oh Comely features a Body positivity  blogger called ,Megan Jayne Crabbe who has written an article about 'my Beauty ripples. My thighs make waves' where she has talked about celebrating the natural body.

5) How does the photography offer a fresh or unusual perspective on women?

The photography is very unique and is quite aesthetically pleasing. Also, the photos seem unconventional the way the photo has been taken of Deanna Rodger the poet. The photo taken of her is mid-performance.
Feature: More than gender

1) How does this feature offer a fresh perspective on gender and identity?

Oh Comely features an article about a man who transitioned to a women but lives a in both genders. This features offers a new perspective on gender and idnetity. 

2) What is the significance of the writer and photographer? How does this fit with the Oh Comely brand?

For that article the writer and photographer is the same person which makes it more personal and helps the reader understand their journey. 

3) What style of photography is used in this feature?

An aesthetically pleasing artistic style.

4) What representations of the trans lifestyle can be found in this feature?

The article talks about how difficult it is for a trans to live in a society where it may not be accepted. However, the writer talks about how happy thjey are and how they overcame the difficultites. 

5) Why is the biographical information at the end of the article significant? (Clue: the writer is also an editor of a niche, creative magazine called Entitle).

The readers are interested in the writers because they can identify with them because of similar interests as well as views.
